The Delhi University announced on Wednesday that a committee will be formed for working out on modalities to implement a 10% increase in seats to be reserved for Economically Backward Section students under the General category, and it is likely to come into effect from the next academic session of 2019-20. This decision was taken into effect after an official order issued by the HRD Ministry for increasing 25% intake in higher educational institutions and universities across the country.

The University confirmed that this is the first phase of increasing their 25% increase intake, 10% increase will come into effect this year, and other 15% will come into effect next year.

However, they informed that for now there will not be any infrastructural damage and new students will be accommodated in existing classrooms.

“The varsity will also develop a mechanism to avoid duplication of the registration data and there will be centralized admissions under the CW (Children/widow of Armed forces) category,” officials said.

The University has decided that this year, it will complete the admissions before the start of the new session, and soon after that will upload a video on the website about providing instructions of how to fill the forms for the new category.

The University also informed that they will start a new drive for admissions for the students from the North East states, by establishing its ”Bulletin of Information” in both Hindi and English.
