MBA students most employable; BTech, MCA, technical and computer-related courses see decline: Report

MBA (Masters in Business Administration) is a globally recognized degree of Business and Administration. India alone produces 3 lakh MBA graduates every year out of which 54% are employed, highest among other Undergraduate and Postgraduate degrees like B.tech, MCA, computer-based and technical courses.

As per India Skill Report 2019-20, 46% of students were ready to take up any job as compared to 33% of students in 2014. The report also showed that 54% of MBA students were employable as compared to 40% of other degrees in the last two years.

Degrees like B.Pharma, BA, B.com, and Polytechnic saw an increase in the employment rate while Engineering, technical and computer degrees saw a decline over the years.

Maharashtra state saw the highest increase in the employability rate over the last 6 years with 67.99%, followed by Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh with 62.97% and 61.78% respectively. The last state on the list was Gujarat with 30.39% while some states did not make the top10 list of India Skill Report 2019-20 as per the Employability rate.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of seeing India become a $5 Trillion economy by 2022, can be achieved only with an increase in the rate of per capita income. The country needs more jobs to achieve such a feat.
