The Council of the Indian school Certificate Examinations (CISCE) is expected to announce the finalized evaluation criteria for the Class 10 ICSE Board students very soon. The council has already announced to cancel the Class 10 ICSE exams 2021 in the view of worsening situations due the Corona virus pandemic and rise in active cases because of the impact of second wave in the country.

Earlier, the council directed its affiliated schools to submit the average marks that students have scored in Class 9 and Class 10 internal examinations for each subject in order to formulate a evaluation criteria and preparation of results. CISCE has also mentioned that it has been working with a team of subject experts to design a “Fair and Unbiased Criterion” which will be used for the assessment.

Gerry Arathoon, Secretary and Chief Executive of the CISCE told that the evaluation criteria is expected to be based on the marks from internal assessments and periodic tests conducted by schools. The Council has received marks of students in two forms- Average marks of class 9 and the average marks of class 10. A combined result from scores of both the grades will be awarded as the result of Class 10 final exams.

Another CISCE official said that we are looking into the data updated by schools and it is currently being analyzed and the board will summarize the final outcomes which will be announced later to the stakeholders. The board is still prioritizing the safety and wellbeing of the students and faculties and do not want to force any process.

According to the Board, The average marks submitted by the schools comprises of the scores from various tests, assessments and exams conducted by schools throughout the year. Out of the total maximum of 100 marks for each subject, 20 marks will be granted internally by the teachers and rest 80 marks will be based on scores of Periodic tests, mid-term exams and Pre-board exams.
