All the states and Union Territories(UTs) Education Ministers, Education Secretaries, Chairpersons of State Examination Boards and all other stakeholders are called to a High-level meeting to be conducted tomorrow. The main agenda of meeting will the pending Class 12 board exams and entrance/competitive exams like NEET and JEE.

The virtual meeting will be chaired by Union Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh with the Union Minister for Education Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’. Union Minister for Women and Child Smriti Zubin Irani and Union Minister Information and Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar will also be present in the meet.

The meeting will commence from 11:30 AM tomorrow i.e., on May 23. The Union education minister informed about the meeting through his official twitter handle. He also requested the students, teachers and parents for their input and suggestions.

The education minister wrote a letter to all the states and UTs regarding the concerns. He mentioned that the education ministry, CBSE and state education boards are still wondering the options to conduct exams amid the pandemic situations.

The department of higher education and UGC are also continuously observing the situations and are planning to finalise tentative dates for the conduction of exams of higher education institutes, the letter further added.

Due to the worsening situations of COVID-19 since last few months, almost all the state education boards, CBSE and CISCE has postponed the exams for Class 12. No new dates have been released for them yet which are creating panic among students.

Similarly, the national testing agency (NTA) has not made any final call on the national entrance exams yet. Exams for admission to professional courses like medical and engineering are still on hold.

As conduction of all this exams impacts the students all around the country, a favorable decision will be made based on the inputs of all states and UTs in the meeting to be held.
