Today, The Supreme Court of India will be hearing over the plea demanding cancellation of Class 12 compartmental exams and main exams for private students. Recently, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) informed the Supreme Court about the dates of improvement exams for Class 12 students.

However the improvement exams are optional while the compartmental exams are compulsory for those students who have failed in their first attempt last year and are reappearing in Class 12 exams this appear. Students in the plea claimed that they are being forced to appear in the exams.

The students of open mode has also demanded that they must be treated equally in case examinations are cancelled for Regular students. Further delay in their exams will take away the opportunity from students to appear and compete in national level entrance exams.

The submitted plea mentions that it will be unfair and unreasonable to hold exams for private and compartment students. The exams for students of regular mode are cancelled and they are being evaluated with an alternate criteria, same can be done for rest of the students rather then holding the exams.

All the students must be given equal rights to appear in the improvement exams as per their wish. The exams are being made optional for regular students then why not for others. 1152 students have filed a joint petition to the supreme court seeking a decision over their concerns and releasing directives for the respective Examination Boards.

Abhishek Choudhary and advocate Manju Jaitley has filed the PIL on behalf of the students. Advocate abhishek Choudhary said that students would face problems because the CBSE Class 12 Compartment exams would be held in July or August when the situation become conducive but they would face problems in securing admission to higher education institutes.
