In total 48 types of sports were stopped in schools in Maharashtra two years ago and have been restarted now, Minister of School Education, Sports and Youth Welfare Ashish Shelar said on Thursday.

Ashish Shelar in a function organised at a school told about the launch of nationwide ‘Fit India‘ movement by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“The sports directorate had stopped as many as 48 types of games in 2017, these sporting disciplines include belt wrestling, futsal, uni-fight, throw-ball, mini-golf, field archery, thigh boxing, table soccer and langadi, among others. But now all these sports have been started as part of schools’ sports activities,” he added.
