Goa University is about to commence study in ancient Indian knowledge systems like Vastu Shastra and Jyotish Shastra from this academic year.
In India there are very rare higher educational institutions that offer indic knowledge to the students.
To offer these courses,four schools will be formulated under the Goa University of, which the School of Sanskrit and Indic Knowledge Systems is one, told Chancellor Mridula Sinha.
Under these schools, programmes like manuscriptology, vedic and puranic knowledge, practices like yoga and panchkarma, classical India philosophy, literature, poetics, grammatics and computational linguistics will be taught.
Initially the courses will be offered in master’s programme and then expand to MPhil and doctoral degrees.
Vastru Shastra and Jyotish Shastra are the system of architectural design and astrology, respectively as practiced in ancient India.
Other 3 institutes that are to be formed in Goa University are School of Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences, School of Chemical Sciences and Goa Business School.
