The Government has released around 185 crores since 2015-16 to improve the differentiation of literacy rates between tribal and general female population, the Parliament was informed.

Minister of State, Tribal Affairs Jaswaantsinh Bhabhor informed the Lok Sabha about the yearly expenditure on the Literacy Rate of tribal Female population. The Expenditure was as follows:

  • 53.29 crore in the 2015-16 fiscal year. This Scheme was introduced in 54 districts where the ST female literacy rate was less than 35 percent.
  • 65.44 crore in the 2016-17 financial year under the schemed known as ‘Strengthening Education among ST Girls in Low Literacy Districts’.
  • 46.28 crore in 2017-18 fiscal year
  • 20.36 crore in 2018-19 so far.

The scheme aims at reducing the drop rate at elementary level creating required resources for the education of tribal girls, the minister added.
