The JEE (Main) and the NEET exams have been postponed by one more month as the coronavirus cases is extremely increasing day by day. The council revoked such a decision as the present situation is out of control. The JEE Main is the admission gateway for NITs and IITs. This exam will be held over six days between September 1 and September 6. The JEE (Advanced) will be conducted on September 27.

The NEET exam for admission of undergraduate medical programs will be conducted on September 13.

The fresh dates were announced by the HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal during a webinar on Friday.

Around 9 lakh candidates have registered for the JEE Main exam and around 16 lakh students registered for NEET. The National Testing Agency (NTA) announced that it would declare the results of JEE (Main) by mid-September and the NEET results are expected to declare around 1st week of October.

Previously the JEE exam was scheduled to held between April 7 and April 11, and NEET was scheduled on May 3. The exams were postponed for the second since the lockdown. The HRD Minister announced the exams would be conducted in the month of July. However, the situation prevailing wasn’t favorable to do so. The Ministry also witnessed several distress and concerns from the parents regarding the safety of the students.

As per the inputs by the four-member committee headed by NTA Director-General Vineet Joshi, the new schedule was released. An official stated that “The (public) support for further delay is overwhelming. Moreover, holding exams in July has become unfeasible since many of the test centers are falling in containment zones.”
