The Institute of Chartered Accountancy of India recently witnessed its newly elected 24th Council for a period of 3 years from 2019-22. On February 12, 2019, the ICAI witnessed its newly elected 67th President and Vice President for the session 2019-20 to be CA. Prafulla P. Chhajed and CA. Atul Kumar Gupta respectively.
CA. Prafulla P. Chhajed, the newly elected President of ICAI, was earlier working as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of ICAI Accounting Research Foundation and XBRL India. He was also one of the Directors of Indian Institute of Insolvency Professionals of ICAI.
He has a very simple aim in his life which is to enhance growth in Accounts industry and take the Institute to reach greater heights. It was reported that from the past 16 years, CA. Prafulla P. Chhajed has written over 600 articles and write-ups on taxation and Investments in the Maharashtra Times, a Marathi daily.
Speaking of the newly elected Vice President CA. Atul Kumar Gupta, was a Law Graduate and was a member of the ICAI and also Institute of Cost Accountants of India. He is also a member of various other professional bodies and institutions. He also qualified CA examination with All India Rank.
He possesses many skills including exceptional organisational, networking, administrative and leadership skills. Before being declared as the Vice President he was the Director of Accounting and Research Foundation of ICAI. H eis also the member of almost 15 committees of ICAI. He is also a Member of Advisory committee for GST in GSTN Board (Government of India IT Initiative for implementation of GST in India) and Member of Finance Committee of Delhi Management Association.
He also wrote articles and books regarding the work he does, which have been published in leading newspapers and magazines.
