On 29th July, 2018 IGNOU launched a Diploma course in Event Management by School of Continuing Education (SPCE). An IGNOU press release stated that the objective of the programme is to “professionalize the field of event management”. This includes coordinating and marketing conferences, exhibitions, sports, digital, rural events and others.
A statement from the open varsity said the Diploma Programme aims to equip learners with the necessary knowledge and skills in one of the most exciting and rapidly growing industry. The one-year diploma programme is aimed at teaching students the “business of experiences”.
Admissions are currently open for July 2018 and January 2019 sessions. The diploma programme has 32 credits. People who have passed Class XII from any stream are eligible for the programme
“The main objective of the programme is to apply relevant knowledge and skills to the field based on the industry needs and for generating skilled event professionals of the future. The programme helps to orient learners towards creating the ‘event experience’,” said a statement from IGNOU.
