IIM Ahmedabad: Final Placement Drive 2019 ends; Highest number of offers came from Accenture Strategy (24)

The Final Placement Drive 2019 for the Post Graduate Programme in Management offered by the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad has ended. Firms belonging to various fields joined the drive for recruiting students from three domains. It was reported that 139 firms participated in the process. The Highest number of offers were received from Accenture Strategy, the Boston Consulting Group, and Flipkart, with Accenture Strategy being at the top with 24 offers, followed by the Bosco Consulting Group with 20 offers.

While counting the positions offered by investment banks, for the finance batch, the highest number of offers came by Avendus with 9 offers, followed by JP Morgan with 8 offers.

While recruiting students from the Sales and marketing batch, the highest number of offers were received by HUL with 5 offers, followed by HUL with 5 offers, followed by Mondelez and Wipro Consumer Care with 3 each. The students, belonging to the domain of general management, received 9 offers, being the highest, by Aditya Birla Group. The Retail B2B and B2C domain, the highest number of offers were received by Flipkart with 14 offers, followed by Amazon with 11. In the domain of Consumer Tech, the highest number of offers were received by Paytm with 10 offers, followed by Microsoft with 8.

The Placement drive consisted of two stages, wherein the first stage constituted of recruitments for the students holding work experience and were offered mid-level positions.

The Technology, Banking, Consulting, General Management, and Analytics domain received offers from 36 firms.

The Second stage constituted of the final placement process, wherein firms were grouped according to the respective domains, and different such groups were invited to the placement drive at the campus.

Following the early years’ culture, wherein the students were allowed to make ‘dream’ applications to the firms they want to work for even with an offer in hand, this year 143 dream applications were received. This year, students were also provided with a chance to work under the mentorship of Centre for Innovation, Incubation, and Entrepreneurship (CIIE), IIM Ahmedabad on their entrepreneurial ideas.

Prof. Amit Karna, Chairperson of the Placement Committee said, “This year we got an opportunity to welcome 33 new recruiters, including a new cohort of media & advertising firms.  The 143 ‘dream applications’ made by our students demonstrates the effectiveness of cluster-cohort system where students are pursuing opportunities in sectors and firms of their choice across sectors.”
