The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta has announced that it will be offering an Executive Programme in Healthcare Management (EPHM) for the new academic session 2021-22.

The new programme will commence from September 2021 and the duration of this programme is of one year. Interested candidates can apply till the end of August on the official website of IIM Calcutta at http://iimcal.ac.in.

The institute has launched this executive programme because of pandemic situations faced by the country. This programme focuses on practices such as disaster and epidemic management which is extremely important for medical professionals in current times.

Aim behind the Executive programme

IIM Calcutta envisions to provide a better outlook of the healthcare sector across the world, study the latest policies being used by foreign countries and implement them in our nation to empower medical facilities.

The idea of this executive programme is derived from the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 which emphasizes the introduction of multidisciplinary studies in the Indian education system.

Implementing the concepts of NEP 2020, IIM Calcutta has tried to develop an interdisciplinary orientation towards the management and healthcare sector by introducing this program.

The institute’s motive is to merge the functioning of the management sector with the healthcare sector by training medical professionals in managerial leadership, which is in better interest for the development of our country.

The executive programme will also promote the participation of professionals in innovation and entrepreneurship practices which can help to address the challenges of the healthcare sector in developing countries.

More About the Programme

All healthcare professionals like doctors, hospital administrators, medical officers, and qualified personals from allied sectors such as pharmaceuticals are eligible to join this programme.

The learning under this programme will be offered through a blended format which will consist of online classes and a 10-day campus visit. The online classes will be held on every Sunday which is ideal for working professionals.

The programme will focus more on experiential and interactive sessions which will comprise student presentations, discussions, case studies, and virtual seminars by guest speakers.

Each student will also be assigned a Capstone Project. This will encourage the students to pursue a real-life project on a topic of their specific interest while working as a team.
