A new program has been launched by IIM Kozhikode for the executives, who want to pursue their PhD. along with their constant job hours. The program has been launched with the name PhD. (Practice Track). The IIM-K set a condition for the interested candidates. The person willing to pursue this program must already have at least 8 years of working experience.
“This is the first time in India that we are defining a PhD in the form of practice track. It is an idea, whose time has come,” Prof. Debasis Bhattacharya; stated.
The aim of the programme is to help industry executives explore research based careers at both academic institutions as well as research roles in public/private sector organisations, the IIM-K website read.
The entire programme can be completed in 3-5 years and successful PhDs can expect to make meaningful contributions to industry best practices or even seek a shift in career to teaching and research, said Prof. Rudra Sensarma, Dean (Research).
Associate Prof. of Economics, Kausik Gangopadhyay, quoted “The programme allows research specialisation in not just conventional management areas such as economics, finance or strategy but also interdisciplinary or sectoral specialisations such as in banking, manufacturing, sports or tourism as per the participant’s choice of the research area.”
It should be noted that the last date to submit the application for this programme is set to 5th June, 2019. The interested candidates can visit official website of IIM Kozhikode to apply for the course.
