the Indian Institute of management (IIM) Sambalpur has came forward for helping the residents of the city to tackle the pandemic. IIM has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the office of district magistrate/collector in the view of ongoing situations due to the second wave of the corona virus pandemic. according to the MoU, the institute will assist the local authorities to manage the overall development of Sambalpur and will help in crisis management.

The MoU was signed in the behalf of Prof. Mahadeo Jaiswal, Director, IIM with the presence of IAS Shubham Saxena, the district collector on May 7. According to Prof. Jaiswal, the institute will offer a scientific approach in areas such as supply chain, logistics, operations and manpower management.

With the contributions from faculties and experts, A Joint task force has been created by the IIT which will ensure the efficient management of health infrastructure and will look after major problems being faced like availability of hospital beds, oxygen cylinders, medicines and doctors. The institute will also assist patients and will establish a effective citizen engagement and social communication between the residents of the district.

the Point of focus for the MoU will be on fields with immense research and strategic solutions. The institute will enable research and will design a solution framework for the government such as impact evaluation, creating a new class of applications and solutions that focuses on optimizing the the delivery of government services in different sectors.

The MoU also compromises of collaboration in technical areas such as local tourism, public health, encouraging local handicraft business, mission shakti, and others.
