Indian Institute of Science, Education, and Research, Pune (IISER) will be conducting a course titled ‘Biostatistics: A user’s perspective,’ under its ‘IISER Pune Short Term Courses’ programme.

The applications for the said course had been opened since August 23 and will be open till September 15. The course is scheduled to start on the IISER-Pune campus from December 28, till December 30. The applications need to be submitted via an online portal and are free of cost. The age of the applicant must be at least 18 years as of December 28, 2018.

The 3-day long intensive course will be accomplished with both classroom teaching methods as well as hands-on training exercises with the participants. The merits of the course include a certificate of completion from the institute.  

The official website states that the ‘Primary focus of this course will be on basic statistical analysis and interpretation of biological data. The amount of mathematics involved will be minimal and the focus will be application-oriented, i.e. on getting the job done without necessarily understanding every gear and wheel clicking understanding every gears and wheel clicking under the hood.”

The course will be accepting students on a first come first serve basis. Upon the selection, the candidates need to pay the course fees to confirm their seat and registration for the short-term course.
