The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati has collaborated with the Mizoram University to work towards the development various academic activities at both of the institutes.

IIT Guwahati and Mizoram University has signed a MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) for development of teaching programmes, R&D activities and promoting exchange of students.

The MoU was officially signed by Prof. T G Sitharam, the Director of IIT Guwahati and Prof. KRS Sambasiva Rao, the Vice-Chancellor of Mizoram University, to remark the collaboration.

Prof. TG Sitharam on the occasion said that this collaboration will help both of the institutes to advance the research and academic activities in better interest of the students and faculty.

This initiative will also enable the institutes to work jointly and serve the larger cause of North East India for its further development in the field of education, training and research.

Prof. Sitharam added that IIT Guwahati and Mizoram University will also encourage cooperation among their faculty members, departments and research facilities.

Both of the institutes will also organise joint lectures and seminars to encourage the students for attending courses and research projects offered by the partner institutes under this collaboration.

Prof. Rao mentioned that this initiative with IIT Guwahati has brought a valuable opportunity for students of Mizoram University to explore a new and different learning environment.

Mizoram University will ensure that it facilitates cooperation in teaching and research areas of mutual interests while maintaining the standards of education with a national institute.

Mr. Rao added that IIT Guwahati is well-equipped institution and has a world-class infrastructure which provides the most ideal environment to conduct research programmes.

This collaboration will help the students to get exposure towards advanced instruments and research facilities available at IIT Guwahati, Mr. Rao said.

It must be noted that IIT Guwahati holds a global research ranking of 41 while the Mizoram University is a NAAC accredited ‘A’ grade institute.
