The Indian Institute of technology (IIT) Jodhpur has formally introduced eight new multidisciplinary programmes in BTech (Bachelors of Technology) which are designed according to modern trends in engineering education.

According to the statement of IIT Jodhpur, This new programmes aims to embed skills like design thinking and social connections into the academic curriculum of Indian engineering colleges.

The institute’s aim is to produce “Global Engineers” who are equipped with such quality skills using which they can address the modern challenges of development industries and related sectors.

Such qualified personals will become future technology leaders and innovators who will work towards developing a sustainable future of the country as well as for the whole world, the IIT Jodhpur statement added.

This new programmes are inspired by the global emergence of multidisciplinary research. Also, Introduction of Such programmes has led IIT Jodhpur towards the implementation of National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

The 8 new multidisciplinary BTech Programmes to be offered by IIT Jodhpur are as follows-

  1. Bioengineering
  2. AI and Data Science
  3. Materials Engineering
  4. Chemical Engineering
  5. Computer Science and Engineering
  6. Electrical Engineering
  7. Mechanical Engineering
  8. Civil and Infrastructure Engineering.

Prof. Shantanu Chaudhary, The Director of IIT Jodhpur, said that the institute being a nationally recognized institution is committed to deliver quality education along with maintaining the standards of highly professional curriculum of the Indian education system.

The introduction of multidisciplinary courses has provided the opportunity to explore possibilities of solving engineering problems with a better approach while keeping sustainability in focus, The Director added.

IIT Jodhpur has also introduced a Double BTech Programme which will offer a second degree in engineering science. This Programme will expose the students to a unique learning experience in addition to the traditional curriculum.

This Programme will enable the students to apply academic knowledge in novel situations and use them as a practical skill to identify, define and solve any problem or challenge arising before them.
