IIT Kharagpur Offers Scholarships For Australian Students

IIT Kharagpur, the first IIT to be established in India and recognized as Institute of National significance, has decided to extend its scholarship offers to Australian Students. IIT Kharagpur has developed a highly competitive scholarship for University of Melbourne students under the Dual Doctoral Program (DDP) jointly managed by the institutions.

The Partnership announcement was made by Sriman Kumar, Director of IIT Kharagpur at Melbourne, Australia during the launch of the Melbourne India Partnership Program.

Two students will be offered this scholarship starting from the next academic session, they will receive annual funding of AUD 30,000 (nearly ₹14.6 lakhs) which will cover tuition, living expenses and travel costs.

Since its initiation, 9 IIT Kharagpur students have been enrolled while only 1 student from the University of Milbourne came under DDP.

Meanwhile, IIT Kharagpur is aiming at cracking the same dual doctoral programs with SAARC (South Asian Countries) and ASEAN (SouthEastern Asian Countries) regions but right now in discussion with the University of New Zealand and the University of Alberta, Canada.

IIT Kharagpur is also known for its prolific alumni like Sundar Pichai, CEO of Alphabet and Google and Arvind Kejriwal, Chief Minister of New Delhi.
