IIT- Kharagpur has decided to evaluate the students based on the first term marks, mid-term marks, and other internal examinations. This decision was taken considering the fact the students could not reach the campus due to lockdown restrictions and it is difficult to conduct the end-term exam.

The institute spokesperson said on Saturday that a committee has been formed to discuss the grading scheme and conduction of other exams. She further reported that the institute will issue a circular based on the decision taken at the senate meeting which includes the student representative.

The verdict was given based on the feedback received through the student representative and the senior faculty members. Also, as the lockdown has imposed travel restrictions many students wouldn’t be able to reach the institute.

The student representative said that out of 13000 students in the institute only 5000 of them are residing at the campus. He further told that this semester would be ending without an end-term exam.
