The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur has released a detailed examination brochure for the upcoming GATE (Graduate Attitude Test in Engineering) 2022 exam.

Aspiring candidates can get important details like eligibility criteria, syllabus, cutoff scores, the application process, and other information related to GATE 2022 through this brochure.

IIT Kharagpur has designed a new website for the GATE 2022 exam. The information brochure is available on the new official website, http://gate.iitkgp.ac.in. The online registration will also be held on the same website.

Major Updates for GATE 2022;

  • Registrations begin from August 30
  • Admit Cards to be released on January 13, 2022
  • Exam to be held in February.
  • Results are expected around March 17.

According to the released brochure, the application process will begin from August 30, 2021, and will continue till September 24 without any late fees. Candidates can also enroll themselves till October 1 but with the addition of late fees.

The GATE 2022 exam will be held over a schedule of 4 days, in two sessions per day. The dates of examination are 5, 6, 12, and 13 February 2022. The exam will be conducted as a Computer-Based Test (CBT).

As per the examination schedule, each day has been divided into two sessions of three hours each. The timings of these sessions are-

  • Forenoon Session- 9 AM to 12 PM
  • Afternoon Session- 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM

This year, two new papers are being introduced for GATE 2022, namely Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering (NM) and Geomatics Engineering (GE).

The Exam pattern will also remain for GATE 2022 same as the previous year. According to this pattern;

  • The question paper will consist of 65 questions with a total of 100 marks.
  • The question paper will include numerical answer type (NAT) questions, multiple select questions (MSQ), and multiple-choice questions (MCQ).
  • The question paper will be divided into two sections.
  • The first section will consist of 10 questions from General aptitude.
  • The second section will be subjective with 55 questions.
  • There will be no negative marking for NAT and MSQ questions.
