Professor T Pradeep of IIT Madras has been chosen for the Nikkei Asia Prizes 2020, he has been chosen for the “Science and Technology”category. As per the statement he has given honour in recognition of his great work in nano technology-based water purification.

The water filters which are based on nanotechnology help to deliver clean water for at a cost of just 2 paisa per litre. T Pradeep stated that his work is the result of his students’ devotion, the friendly environment at IIT-madras, his funding agencies and his country. He has always dreamed of doing something for his country.

The faculty at Madras was recently honoured with the highest civilian honour of the country- Padma Shri.

The Nikkei Asia Prizes are given to individuals who work hard and make contribution towards the sustainable development of the country. Annually, they are awarded in three different areas- Economic and Business Innovation, Science and Technology and Culture and Community.

Appreciating the professor, Director of IIT Madras, Bhaskar Ramamurthi has stated that Prof Pradeep has made the college feel proud. He has brought laurels to himself as well as the research team. The faculty would be making a huge contribution in the area of clean water.

Nikkei Asia Prizes will conduct its 25th edtion and includes a prize money of 3 million Yen. The award ceremony will take place later in Tokyo.
