The Isha Education Charitable Trust, Vellangiri, has received accreditation from the Tamil Nadu Open University for establishing a college that will offer 14 courses. The Trust aims at imparting training to rural and underprivileged youth in villages and reward them with diplomas.
The various diploma courses offered are Welding Technology, Industrial Fitter, Beautician, Fashion Design and Garment Making, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technician, Automotive Service Technician, Plumbing, DTP Operator, Computer Applications, Computer Hardware Servicing, General Duty Assistant, Multi Cuisine Cook, Mechanic (Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation) and Early Childhood Care and Education.
“The scope of courses offered will be increased based on the inclinations of the rural community,” said a statement from Trust.
Also, in order to provide practical exposure to students, the foundation collaborated with a few industries in order to provide internships to students and provide employment opportunities.
Sadhguru in his twitter page recently tweeted saying, “Accreditation of Isha Community College by Tamil Nadu Open University begins a new chapter towards reaping the benefits of India’s demographic dividend by imparting skills to underprivileged youth of Tamil Nadu. Creating skilled, inspired & focused youth is need of the hour.”
