Karnataka government approves distribution of laptops worth about Rs 17 cr for SC trainees of ITIs

The Karnataka cabinet has authorized the distribution of free laptops among the government-aided and private Indian Training Institute (ITIs) Scheduled Caste trainees (Final Year) for the year 2019-2020 with an expense of around 17 crores. Furthermore, the Karnataka government led by Cheif Minister BS Yeddyurappa is also working towards uplifting the global standard of Pattadakal for tourism.

JC Madhu Swamy, Law and Parliament Minister of Karnataka made the announcement on Thursday saying, 5,331 laptops will be obtained at an expense of ₹16.97 crores and distributed among SC trainees of ITI.

The cabinet also confirmed the development of the tourist plaza infrastructure at Patatadakal in the Bagalkot district, a UNESCO World Heritage with an estimated cost of 29.25 crores. The aim to make the district a global standard for a tourism spot with entertainment, information facilities and more.

Meanwhile, the Karnataka Government is all set to oppose the hike in the GST (Goods and services) rates. The proposal has been passed by the government to oppose the increase in cess by the central government.

Interestingly, the Free Laptops scheme has been very common across the country with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Samajwadi Party (SP) distributing them among students.
