Two computer science engineering students from Kerala develop the virtual classroom named-“iClassroom”. Abhinand C and Shilpa Rajeev, have together became the winner of “CODE19 online hackathon against coronavirus”.

In just 72 hours, the duo has built the digital classroom. As per the 19 year old Abhinand, the digital classroom will have a live classroom, interaction among the group and subject wise digital classroom for all the different streams. It will also have content on school level which can be useful for students at digital level.

In addition to this he stated that the classroom is very much engaging and would serve as a platform for enhanced learning. The classes will be totally free of cost and would have option of live classroom to group interaction with the peers.

The 72 hour online hackathon was hosted by the Silicon Valley based Motwani Jadeja Family Foundation. Around 3,000 people had participated across the globe in this hackathon. The duo would receive a prize worth $10,00 approximately RS 7,55,200 as per the Indian currency.

According to Shilpa Rajeev, who is his batchmate and co-winner stated that they have taken inspiration from their experience during the live classes. The idea to have a virtual classroom came from the issues they were facing during their live classes. During the situation of lockdown it has become new normal and they wanted to improve the experience.

Shilpa Rajeev addded on to it that at present the project is in its first stage and they are working to code for the website so that there is smooth functioning. It would take three to four months of time for the iClassroom to become fully functional.

The second prize in the hackathon was given to the students from Manipal Institute Of Technology for the idea of having remote diagnosis for the patients of COVID-19.
