It has been reported that Kinnaur, Himachal Pradesh witnessed heavy snowfall, hailstorm, and rain due to which several roads have been shut, which has to lead to all educational institutions in the Kinnaur district will be shut for two days on Wednesday and Thursday i.e. February 27 and 28, 2019. The decision was taken in order to ensure the safety of the students by the district administration.

The Shimla Met Centre has reported more snowfall in high and mid hills and rain in low hills and plain of the state on February 28, 2019.

It was also reported by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) that rain will continue to fall for the next 12 hours which will lead to snow avalanches along with glacier getting melted in different regions of Himachal Pradesh.

For the past 24 hours, it has been reported that heavy snowfall and rainfall has continued to occur in lower areas.

The areas that witnessed heavy rainfall from the past 24 hours are  Kullu, Kinnaur, Mandi, Shimla, and Bilaspur districts, while the areas that witnessed heavy and fresh snowfall are Shimla, Kinnaur, Lahaul-Spiti, Kullu and Chamba districts.

Due to heavy rainfall, traffic at National Highway 3 which connects Kullu and Manali was made shut on Thursday afternoon. Also, due to heavy rainfall, Kinnaur district has been witnessing flash flood like situation.
