UNSW signs MoU with Maharashtra Government

Sydney’s leading University UNSW (University of New South Wales) has just announced the scholarship offer for the students studying in the Universities of Maharashtra. The offer is being granted after the UNSW signed an MoU with the Maharashtra government. According to the deal the students, who are interested to pursue their PhD from Sydney and Canberra University, Australia can apply for the scholarship but only the eligible candidates will be given a chance to move further. The UNSW has promised to give 20 PhD scholarships every year to the Indian students studying in the state Universities of Maharashtra, as discussed in the MoU.

What is MoU?

An MoU stands for Memorandum of Understanding. This is an agreement signed between two or more parties officially to take some mutual development or decision further. It should be noted that an MoU is not bound with any legal documents i.e there is no stamped paper work to be claimed rather it is a verbal or unofficial written inclination to fulfill the mutual deal.

According to the Maharashtra government the mutual contract will help the students be more skilled in the research sector, which will eventually take India towards an evolution. UNSW is also satisfied with the fact that it will prosper the deserving skilled minds of India in its University.

How to Apply?

  • The candidate need to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to the Vice Chancellor of student’s University and UNSW, Canberra.
  • The UNSW will then assess the EOI and notify the eligible candidates.
  • The eligible candidate should send the application further to UNSW for the admission and scholarship.
Eligibility Criteria:

– UNSW examines both, the practical work and the research undertaken by the candidate.

-The student’s grades in the particular session will be assessed and converted into the UNSW grading score, which the University gets by measuring the world ranking of the institution delivering the degree to the student.

– The student should have a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree in hand to equivalent the scoring criteria set by UNSW.
