Maharashtra International Education Board (MIEB) introduction

Last year in January, Maharashtra government announced to introduce an international board i.e Maharashtra International Education Board (MIEB) in the state that will be separate from the exciting Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE).

75 schools of Maharashtra have recently got the affiliation from Maharashtra International Education Board (MIEB) and they will be starting the international education from this session of June 2019-20. 13 schools of zila parsihad Maharashtra already had the affiliation to international board. Some of the schools visited them to analyse the curriculum of the international educational system.

Although 72 Brihanmumbai Municipal Schools that had applied to get affiliation from MIEB are still awaiting to get an approval from BMC education official.

Meanwhile Maharashtra only had a single board, which was responsible to conduct the examinations and rested the Maharashtra educational system wholly in its hand.

Vinod Tawde, State Education Minister stated earlier “In the first phase, we want to start 100 international schools that will impart international level education. All these will be existing government schools, which will be affiliated with the MIEB. The MIEB will have the autonomy to take every decision related to the international schools.”

Maharashtra already have international boards such as International Baccalaureate (IB), headquartered at Geneva and Indian General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE), run from Cambridge, U.K. Now, first time ever the state will have its own international school in India.
