The Ministry of Tribal Affairs has signed an agreement with the renowned International tech brand Microsoft for designing a new AI based curriculum programme. This programme will enable the access for tribal students to studies based on modern technologies and artificial intelligence.

Now with the association of Microsoft and the ministry, the teachers at government-aided tribal schools will be able to tutor the students using latest tech devices and facilities which will also support AI learning.

The new curriculum will be made available to the students of Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) and Ashram Schools in the country. Microsoft will design the curriculum in both English and Hindi language. The ministry has planned to start with 250 Eklavya Schools for the first phase of this programme.

The ministry will first start to train the teachers in a phased manner. Teachers will be introduced to the Microsoft 365 application and other AI applications designed for teaching. While the students will be mentored on projects based on the postive aspects of use of AI.

The tribal affairs minister on the official launch said that, “Through these programs, our students would get the required skill set through digital transformation and this would open a new chapter with AI and coding being a part of the curriculum.”

He further added, “Students will also be trained and exposed to gamified environments on Minecraft to help build design thinking skills. This is an innovative step made under the implementation of New education policy and may prove revolutionary.”

Microsoft has shown keen interest in this project too. Navtez Bal, the executive director for public sectors of Microsoft India has said that through this program, we have found an opportunity to experiment the implementation of AI Based learning in rural india. Such programs in near future will provide equity to students and learners.
