Minority Affairs Ministry Sanctions Over Rs 100 Crore To AMU Centres

The Minority Affairs Ministry led by Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi has approved 100 crores and 99 Lakhs to Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) for the construction of Boys and Girls hostel at its off-campus centers of Murshidabad (West Bengal) and Mallapuram (Kerala) under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram (PMJVK), which provides infrastructure facilities to the minority community in the field of health, education and skill development.

The funds have been submitted to Professor Tariq Mansoor, Vice Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) who presented the proposal regarding the urgent need of constructing the hostels against the growing demand by the centres for accommodation problems.

The first installments have been released by the Minority Affairs Ministry of ₹30.29 crores for the year 2019-20. The centres of Murshidabad and Mallapuram are running Law, MBA and B.Ed courses.

The AMU Vice Chancellor has thanked the Minority Affairs Ministry for considering the demand and is hopeful for getting financial support for the Kishanganj Centres also.

Meanwhile, The Minority Affairs Ministry is working on establishing the ‘Hunar Hubs’ in every state to train and encourage indigenous artisans and craftsmen.
