The Mizoram government informed that it has postponed the next academic session till the coronavirus pandemic is brought under control. Earlier the government planned to commence the academic session from July 15.

The Mizoram education minister Lalchhandama Ralte said that “We would not be able to open schools during this month as the Union Ministry of Home Affairs directed all the states not to open educational and training institutes till July 31 due to the increasing COVID-19 cases in the country.”

The government informed that it shall take decision considering the present situation. The state recorded 162 coronavirus cases till Friday. In that only 35 patients are suffering from covid-19 while 127 have been recovered.

Further the minister said that the exams which were deferred due to the outbreak, were conducted successfully.

The remaining subjects in arts, science, and commerce streams of Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) were held between July 1 and 3. As per the Minister’s words, the results of the class 12 exams will be published before July 12
