Students witnessed misprinting in the question paper of HSC bookkeeping and accountancy exam. There was a missing digit in a question of the balance sheet where the amount of furniture was not visible and due to this students might lose 10 marks.

At some centers, the digits were visible whereas at some it was not. The digit’ 7′  from Rs 76000 was unclear to the students. It was found that some students attempted that question by considering Rs 6000 or Rs 16000. The question required the students to prepare profit and loss adjustment account, partner’s capital account and new balance sheet of the firm. A student’s mother from MCC College in Mulund, said “My son wrote in the paper that the figure is unclear,” said the mother.

Sachin Karnavat, president of Maharashtra Class Owners’ Association, said that at some centers the matter got solved but at some, it remained unrecognized. “The balance sheet of students did not tally, and they wasted lot of time on the question. The board should give full 10 marks to students if their steps are right, but they have calculated using Rs 6,000 or Rs 16,00 as the cost of the furniture. It will be unfair to students who did not get a clear print,” said Karnavat.

A board official confirmed that they will look into the matter deeply once they receive the answer sheets.
