Final decision has been announced by the Supreme Court on the UGC Exam Guidelines and the matter of the final year university examinations. While the apex court has upheld the guidelines. To cancel the final year examination, it has also upheld Maharashtra Government’s decision calling it within the tenets of the Disaster Management Act. Moreover, the SC, has cleared it’s part that without the final year examination degrees cannot be granted .

As per the detailed order, Supreme Court has clarified that the States, can cancel the examination scheduled for a particular date, but they do not have the power to decide on the manner of providing degrees. The right to grant degrees vests with the UGC, says apex court.

Based on specific situations in the state, the states can reach out to UGC for extension of the September 30 deadline –says Supreme Court . The UGC, is responsible to answer all the requests.

What does it mean for Mumbai University Examinations?

Soon the state government shall take the decision on the Mumbai University Final Year Examinations. However, the government, is responsible for cancelling any immediate examination, but, the final examinations have to be conducted. The university shall be responsible for any manner of testing and mode of examination.

In July, the Mumbai University Final Year examinations, were scheduled which has been postponed. Later, Maharashtra Government cancelled the exams . All of the students are advised to keep a look out for a circular from the government or the university.
