UPSC has finally declared its 2017 results and Nandini KR, an IRS officer from Karnataka, has topped the most prestigious exam. This was the fourth attempt for Nandini KR. She was recommended for Indian Revenue Services in her 2nd attempt, whereas, she could not qualify in the CSE Prelims in first and third attempt.

Nandini KR is the daughter of a school teacher and she did her schooling in Kolar. Kolar is a town situated 50 kilometre from Bengaluru and is famous for its gold mines. She did her graduation from MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology in Bengaluru. She belongs to other backward casts.

While talking to one of the TV Channels after emerging the topper in UPSC CSE examination, Nandini said that she could not study much as she was undergoing training while the UPSC exams were due. She managed 6 hours everyday despite tough schedule at National Academy of Customs, Excise and Narcotics in Faridabad. After being recommended for IAS, she wants to work for the education of students.

She has written the examination for four times. According to her, she could not prepare well for the exam the first time, however, in the second attempt, she was recommended for IRS, but she wanted to become an IAS. In the third attempt, she was diagnosed with dengue and could not do well in the exams.
