National Centre for the Performing Arts announces scholarship for Hindustani Music training

The National Centre of Performing Arts (NCPA) and Citi India have collaboratively announced a scholarship program for advanced training in the field of Hindustani Music of Melody Instruments like Sitar, Violin, Harmonium, Flute, Sarod and Vocal Khayal/Dhrupad towards elevating various fields Indian and Western Classical Music.

Dr. Suvarnalata Rao, Head Programming Indian Music of NCPA said, “We at NCPA are consistently striving towards supporting musicians at every level by ensuring they have opportunities and skills to pursue and experience Indian Classical Music.”

“Our Scholarship program will provide scholarships to young talented musicians and promising artists. A total of 9 scholarships will be given to the selected candidates,” she added.

National Centre of Performing Arts Scholarship Details:

  • The Age limit for applying for the scholarship in the Hindustani Music is 18 to 35 years across the country.
  • Candidates can apply for the scholarship from December 2 to December 31, 2019.
  • The chosen candidate will be given ₹10,000 per month for a year (April 2020 to March 2021).

To apply a candidate need to send their biodata to NCPA. The shortlisted students will be asked to appear for an interview in February 2020 at NCPA, Mumbai.
