NEET 2017 results

NEET 2017 results will be announced by the CBSE today at cbseresults.nic.in and cbseneet.nic.in. The exam was held in 10 languages including English and Hindi. The results were originally scheduled to be announced on June 8.

There were separate petitions filed at the Madras and Gujarat High Courts by medical aspirants demanding cancellation of NEET 2017 saying that the Gujarati and Tamil medium paper were tougher than English and Hindi medium.

The Madras HC, on May 24, had put a stay on the NEET result until the next preceding. But on June 12, the Supreme Court over-ruled the Madras High Court order and directed the Central Board of Secondary Education to announce NEET 2017 result by June 26.

Out of about 12 lakh students appearing for the exam this year, 10.5 went for either English or Hindi Medium and about 1.25-1.50 lakh appeared for eight vernacular languages.

Last year, 1,71,329 applicants from the general category have qualified for the admissions in medical and dental colleges. More girls — 2,26,049 — qualified for admissions to medical and dental colleges than boys — 1,83,424. Of the nine transgender applicants, four had qualified.
