Today, July 3, marks the beginning of the registrations of online medical counselling for admission in undergraduate medical programmes on the basis of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) results which were declared on June 23.

Under the command of the Supreme Court, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has constituted a Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) to look out for the admission process.

August 16 will mark the end of the counselling process. On August 4, the MBBS and BDS courses will begin their academic term. The counselling will be held online for the 15 percent general category seats. For the first round of seat allotment, respective candidates have to report to the allotted institute.

On July 3, the registration, choice filling and indicative seat will begin and continue till July 11 evening (until 5 pm). A separate two-round counselling for admission will be conducted by the states for the state quota seats in government and private colleges.

To fill up the desired choices and securing them, candidates have time until July 12 (until 5 pm). The seats will be allotted by the 13th and 14th of the month and declaration of the result is scheduled to be on the 15th. Students will be requested to report at the allotted medical or dental college from July 16 to July 22 (until 5 pm).

Round two will take place from August 1 until August 4 (5 pm), wherein the medical aspirants will be given time to exercise their choices, locking and new registration. The allotment of the seat will take place from August 5 to August 7 and the result will be out on August 8. The candidate has to reach the allotted medical or dental college from August 9 to August 16 with all relevant documents. Post 5 pm on August 16, transfer of vacant seats to state quota will take place.
