Following the unimpressive result of Tamil Nadu in NEET’17, the state government is trying all means to safe-guard the interest of the state’s aspirants from the All India Quota (AIQ) which is 15% leaving only 85% seats in the hands of Tamils. The state government will continue to exert pressure on the Centre to exempt it from NEET, claimed Education Minister K A Sengottaiayan on Monday.

The government made its stand clear of not settling in for the current situation and it would continue to fight for an exemption from NEET for the benefit of the students, ensured Sengottaiayan.

Apart from this, a book containing 54,000 questions being asked at the national-level examinations conducted by the Centre is planned to be released soon. Sengottaiayan said that 3,000 smart schools were on the anvil in the State, continuing to state the new announcements for the benefit of students from economically backward classes would be made before the end of the current Assembly session.

He also confirmed that the fee structure for schools are being looked into. At the same time, a committee will look into the issues with part-time teachers.
