At a recent event organized by the state-run Economic Development Corporation in Panaji, CM Manohar Parrikar addressed the audience with his grieve concern for the worsened quality of education due to nepotism.

Education, as Parrikar says, is infected by the disease of nepotism. He says, “If you see the educational institutes in Goa, there is a tradition to employ a person from our own family as a teacher. The result is, the quality of education is impacted.”

Stating his own experience, CM of Goa spoke about his visit to a training centre for teachers. There is asked some of the participants about what drove them into this profession. To his grief, only a few had satisfactory answers and the rest either didn’t answer at all or gave vague answers. This implied that people choose teaching for the good salary that comes with it and not out of their nobility.
