The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2023, released by the Ministry of Education, presented a list of the top-tier institutes excelling in imparting education and innovation in their area-concerned. Rajkumar Ranjan Singh, minister of state (MoS), Education and External Affairs, announced the NIRF 2023 rating on June 5, 2023, in a press conference. The rankings are available on nirfindia.org, the ranking platform’s official website.
Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) continue to dominate the NIRF Rankings 2023 this year. In the engineering category, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has been crowned the best institute in India, followed by the IITs in Mumbai, Kanpur, and Roorkee. Additionally, among the top 10 institutions in the nation are the Indian Institute of Science (IISC), Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), and Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI).
The seven topic domains evaluated in 2022 by NIRF now include Agriculture and Allied Sectors in addition to Engineering, Management, Pharmacy, Law, Medical, Architecture, and Dental. This year, every significant institute received both –a common overall score and, where applicable, a rank unique to a particular subject.
Interestingly, Delhi University, where, every year before the introduction to CUET, high cut-offs used to make a buzz around admission season, did not make a mark in the top 10 universities of the country.
