The Parliament was informed on Monday by the Human Resource and Development Ministry that the ministry has not received any complaints regarding the exorbitant fees charged by the deemed to be universities.

“No specific complaints are received by this ministry regarding charging an exorbitant fee by the deemed to be universities. As per the University Grants Commission (UGC) norms, deemed to be universities are not allowed to accept payment towards certain heads on the pretext of admission fees and other fees,” Union Minister of HRD Satya Pal Singh informed the Parliament.

As per the norms laid by the constitution, deemed to be universities are not supposed to charge any fees or donation or any amount other than the charges for admission which are given in the prospectus or on the website and any payment without a receipt will not be admissible.
