Considering the present pandemic situation, Delhi University has decided not to conduct the exams for first-year and second-year students. This decision was taken to ease out the stress levels for the students in this pandemic.

This verdict applies the students studying under Delhi University and to those in the School of Open Learning (SOL) and the Non-Collegiate Women’s Education Board (NCWEB). This is also applicable to first-year PG students. The university has previously announced that it would conduct Open Book exams for the final years from July 1.

The Dean of Examinations reported to the press this view was taken considering the present situation. He mentioned that it is notified o students, that the intermediate semesters will be promoted based on the internal marks and the previous semester marks. This is because the conventional mode of exam is not feasible in this pandemic with all the safety protocols taking into account.

He further added that “The matter was intensively deliberated in the bodies i.e. task force constituted by DU in view of Covid-19 and the working group on examinations, based on which it has been decided that as a one-time measure, alternative mode of grading for promotion/results shall be adopted as per composite format for calculating the same for the intermediate semester/term/year students for the academic session 2019-2020 so that students can take their career forward,”.

Gupta announced that the grading process will be done by considering two parameters. 50% of the marks will be taken from the internal exams/ assignments, and the rest 50% of the marks will be taken on the basis of performance in previous semesters.

Also for the students who have no performance in the previous semesters, 100% weightage will be given to the internal assessment. For PWD- category students a duration of hours will be given for Open Book Exams.
