The state government of Uttar Pradesh led by CM Yogi Adityanath has issued strict orders for all the schools to not increase the Fees for next academic session 2021-22. The order is applicable to every school irrespective of the board they are affiliated with.

The decision has been taken in the view ongoing pandemic situations due to COVID-19 spread. Several families have hit hard in this tough times and has suffered major economic losses. Due to such financial instability and no primary source of income left, parents are not able to pay hiked schools fees.

The order also mentioned that if any school does not obeys the issued orders, the parents or students can file a complaint to the fee regulatory committee of respective district. Such schools will be liable for strict actions.

According to the additional chief secretary of UP Secondary education Board, Aradhna Shukla, those who have already charged increased fees in this session has to adjust the additional amount in fee installments of upcoming months. The fees applicable for this session has to be the same of last session 2020-21.

Mr. Dinesh Sharma, the Deputy CM and Secondary Education Minister for UP interacted with the media after the decision came out. He said that the decision of no fees hike is an effort from the government to provide a relief to parents who are struggling to pay fees and have suffered financial losses.

He further added that the teachers and staff members will also be paid their regular salary and no deduction will be made in the amount. Schools have to consider such cases where parents are unable to pay the quarterly fee and they should be allowed to pay in smaller monthly installment.

Also, since only online classes are being held thus schools are not allowed to charge any of the fees for transportation, exams, extracurricular activities, annual functions, mess facility or other non-academic activities.
