The New Delhi government, as informed to Rajya Sabha on Thursday, is not considering setting up the ‘Indian Education Service’ which makes appointments for various posts such as chancellor, vice chancellor, pro-chancellor and registrar in institutes of higher education.

“There is no such proposal under consideration on the setting up of an India Education Service,” said Satya Pal Singh, Minister of State for Human Resource Development in a response to a written question.

He also added, “currently, incumbents to the higher posts in higher educational institutions are being appointed in a transparent manner by following the provisions of recruitment rules framed for each such post.”
