It has been reported that eight officials, serving in the Board of Secondary Education Odisha, has been suspended on Friday after the Class X question papers got viral on social media while the exam was ongoing.

Commenting on the action, Odisha board president Jahan Ara Begum said she immediately ordered a probe in the matter to know how this incident happened. “As the circulation of question papers occurred after the examination is started, there is no question of conducting the examination again. But we will take action against the people for committing the mischief,” she added.

It was also reported that the president found that superintendents and invigilators of four centers were found to be involved in the mishappening. Four Examination centers were blamed for this very incident which was Karamangal high school and Gopinath high school of Nuapada district, Bandhugaon high school in Koraput district and Sudarshan Vidyapeetha in Dhenkenal district.

“The board has asked the district education officers (DEOs) of the concerned districts to lodge FIR in their local police stations about the circulation of question papers in social media. After the police inquiry, the truth will come out,” she added.

She added that mobile phones were completely prohibited inside the examination hall. The invigilators were also asked to submit their mobile phones.

It was found, that question papers traveled through 304 nodal centers across the state and were CCTV surveillance. The question papers arrived at the centers by 8:30 a.m. on Friday under police security.

Many officials who belong to the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) school gathered around the education minister Badri Narayan Patra’s official residence in Bhubaneswar and protested regarding the question papers getting viral on social media. They had scuffled with the police and tried to enter the minister’s house. It was found that 50 people got detained during the protest.

It was reported that over 5,87,720 students had appeared for the examination. Also, due to the mishappening that took place on the first day, 79 students were blamed for the same.

Subhankar Das, a resident of CDA in Cuttack, his son appeared for the examination, he shared his views and said “The board members should take more precautions and remain extra alert to make the examinations success,” he added.
