On Friday, the state government has decided to facilitate free transportation and accommodation to all the needy candidates  who will be appearing for JEE Main entrance examinations. Across seven cities, the examination is scheduled to be held during September 1st and 6th in 26 centres .

National Testing Agency, would conduct the exam and around 37,000 students from Odisha would appear the JEE Main entrance exam.

As informed by the state officials, in seven cities where the JEE and NEET exam shall be conducted the government of Odisha has lifted the lockdown in the state . On Friday, after the Chief Secretary A K Tripathy announced that to students appearing in the JEE and NEET the  government of state would be providing free transport and accommodation .  Asit Tripathy who is the Chief Secretary of the state said, “Those who do not have any arrangement, the government will be providing those candidates free transportation and accommodation.”

Adding on to more information the Chief Secretary also stated  that across the state on the dates of the exams no restrictions shall be made on the travel movement of the candidates. In Odisha, during the lockdown transportation facilities can be used by their parents and guardians .

Asit Tripathy also said that district administrations and the police of the state have been asked to stay vigilant so as to ensure that the students do not face any issues in transportation.

The skill development and technical education secretary, Sanjay Singh,  assured the candidates that they would be helped by the nodal ITI principals of their locality if the aspirants are unable to find the means to reach their centres.

The facilities for such students shall be arranged without failure. For this the aspirants need to inform the nodal officers of their issues by August 31 noon. It needs timely information by the aspirants as this would play a major role in enabling the state government to arrange it for them free of cost. He added that if we fail to collect information, then  arrangements cannot be made.

In seven cities,  special cells have been opened that would help in arranging accommodation facilities. For transportation of candidates, the Odisha State Road Transportation, OSRTC buses would be used .
