Partha Chatterjee, West Bengal Education Minister on Friday informed that schools will be required to set the selection test question papers for the Higher Secondary Examination. In other words, they cannot rope in external agencies like teachers’ organization to set papers, effectively from this year.

Mr. Chatterjee added, “the HS schools will have to complete the selection test process by November 30 and conduct everything on their own without bringing in any outside agency like teachers’ bodies to set the questions.”

The usual protocol in place is that the question papers for the selection test for Board Exams are set by teachers’ organization with whom many schools have a tie-up for supplying the question papers which are given to students on the day of test exams by teachers of the respective schools.

Mr. Chatterjee added that the steps taken to mandate the schools to set questions by their own teachers were aimed at “preventing financial irregularities and ensure the ability of students can be assessed by their own teachers for the final exams.”

The Higher Education Examinations in West Bengal are scheduled to start on February 26 and last till March 13 in 2019.
