Progress of a country depends on quality of human resource and quality of human resource depends on quality of education: President Murmu

The President Droupadi Murmu said while addressing the 3rd convocation of Doon University in Dehradun on Friday that the progress of any country depends on the quality of its human resource and the quality of human resource depends on the quality of education.

The President noted that students of Doon University can also study three local languages- Garhwali, Kumaoni and Jaunsari. She said that encouraging study of local languages is a commendable step in preserving our folk culture. Folk languages are the intangible heritage of our culture. In addition, the Dr. Nityananda Himalayan Research and Studies Center has been established to conduct research and investigate a wide range of topics pertaining to the state’s geographic, ecological, economic, and social development.

She said that research and innovation should be encouraged in educational institutions so that students could be more equipped with technical skills and provide employment to others instead of seeking employment for them.

The President highlighted the fact that girls received 23 gold medals out of 36 awards at today’s convocation and 8 out of 16 PhDs as evidence that women have access to adequate educational opportunities at Doon University and that the institution is committed to supporting girls. According to her, the progress of women’s emancipation will be strengthened when girls perform better in topics like science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). They would have several chances to develop successful STEM-based occupations.

The President told the graduating students that their responsibilities had increased after receiving their degrees. In whichever career they choose, she counseled them to work honestly and to the best of their abilities.

She claimed that only then would their education be worthwhile and they would be able to use their knowledge to better the society and the nation. In the era of constant and quick change, she claimed, India is advancing toward the achievement of Atma-nirbhar, and for this country to do so, it requires their devotion and dedication to the process of developing the nation.
