In the meeting held with Education secretaries of all states, the union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank suggested that digital devices can be provided to the students of secondary schools in order to ensure uninterrupted online education.

During the pandemic situations, there are lot of students from lower class families who are unable to get access to decent digital devices like mobile phones and laptops. Students from rural areas also lacks feasible internet facilities. Unfortunately due to the lack of this basic amenities, such student are left stranded.

Upon this concern, the education minister said that It is the responsibility of education Ministry of respective states to identify such students and ensure the availability of all this facilities to them. By doing so, they will to able to cope up with the ongoing online education until situations normalise and physical classes are resumed.

The Minister discussed about the preparations made by the states to tackle challenges which are being faced in conduction of online classes during the pandemic. It has already been suggested to the states by Education Ministry that they should try to promote digital India program among students from rural areas.

During the virtual meeting, Mr. Nishank also heard the responses from the states regarding the procedure for implementation of new national education policy (NEP 2020) in the schools. He father requested for a detailed report to be presented soon regarding this from each state’s education ministry.

It is further suggested that States should use Bharat Net for better Connection and smoother communication with all schools. Also keeping a regular update on the mental health and work load on teachers is a must for which Manodarpan portal can be used.

Out of all the suggestion, the union minister stressed more on to prioritise the availability of continuous and uninterrupted education to students residing in remote and inaccessible areas.
