The Punjab Cabinet headed by the Chief Minister Amarinder Singh announced on Wednesday, March 6, 2019, the approval of regularization of 5178 government school teachers with full pay to be implemented from October 1, 2019.

The Cabinet was also reported to have regularized 650 nurses of the Health Department in order to stop the agitation.

It has been announced by the cabinet that the teachers who were appointed in 2014, 2015, and 2016 will all be regularized after the completion of their two-year training period.

According to the new decision, it has been announced:

  • Teachers will be promoted from the date of completion.
  • Earlier, they were paid ₹7500 per month, after being regularized, they will be paid ₹15,300 per month
  • The cabinet also reduced the probation period from three years to two years.
